Cookie Policy

What SlideWeave stores in your browser, why there is no cookie banner, and how to switch analytics off in one click.

The short version

No advertising cookies. No third-party trackers. No cross-site tracking of any kind. That is not a plan; it is how the product is built, and it does not depend on a choice you make.

We do run audience measurement, to see which pages are useful. You can switch it off in one click, from the footer of any page, and the site works exactly the same either way.

Because we don’t think one would tell you anything this page doesn’t, and because the measurement behind it carries no advertising, no profiling, and no tracking across other sites.

A banner is the right instrument when the answer genuinely changes what happens to you. Here it would interrupt every visit to ask about a page counter. So instead: this page, plainly written, and a switch that is always one click away in the footer. The privacy notice sets out the same thing in §3.2 and §4.3.

If we ever direct the service to the European Union, that changes and analytics there moves to prior opt-in. Annex B.1 of the privacy notice records the scope this rests on.

Strictly necessary storage

These exist so the product can work at all. There is nothing to consent to, and you cannot turn them off while using the service.

Name Purpose Type Lifetime
rt Session refresh token Cookie (httpOnly) 7 days
rt_csrf Cross-site request forgery protection Cookie (httpOnly) 7 days
oauth_state Protects the federated sign-in flow Cookie (httpOnly) Minutes
sw_consent Remembers that you switched analytics off Cookie + local storage 24 months

sw_consent holds one value — on or off — and no identifier. It only exists once you use the settings; until then there is nothing to remember. It is the only one written by this website rather than by the application, which is why it is the only one readable from JavaScript. It is scoped to .slideweave.com so a refusal made here also applies in the app.

Some browsers (notably Safari) limit how long a cookie set by a script — rather than by a server — can last, regardless of what we ask for. A copy of the same choice is kept in your browser’s local storage as a backstop: it doesn’t cross into the application, but on your next visit here it lets us restore the cookie rather than silently forgetting your choice and starting to measure you again.

The application also keeps things in your browser’s local storage: your profile, your preferences, your document list, and unsaved drafts. Signing out does not clear all of it. On a shared computer, sign out and clear the site’s data.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 here and in the application (app.slideweave.com). It sets two cookies:

Name Purpose Lifetime
_ga Tells one browser apart from another 13 months
_ga_<property> Holds session state for the property 13 months

The property runs with Google Signals off and ad personalization off, so nothing is joined to a Google account or used to build advertising audiences. Event data is kept for at most 14 months. We do not use it to identify you, and we never sell or share it.

On this site, it runs by default for every visitor, the way described below. Inside the application the default depends on how you’re using it: creating an account already means accepting the Privacy Notice, and that acceptance is what discloses analytics there too — the same way it already covers billing and the audit log, with no separate toggle inside the product. Opening a shared presentation without an account runs no analytics by default, there or here, unless you’ve separately turned it on.

Switching it off

“Cookie settings” in the footer, on any page, here. Turning analytics off deletes the _ga cookies already in your browser and stops collection immediately — it is not just a note for next time — and it also switches analytics off inside the application, since both read the same decision. The same switch turns it back on if you change your mind.

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, analytics never loads at all and you don’t have to do anything.

Refusing costs you nothing: every page, every feature, and the whole product work exactly the same.

Managing cookies yourself

You can clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will sign you out of the product; it will not affect this marketing site.
